Here are the key details about publication:
The book is already off the press, is being bound and comes out in December.
It's sent by media mail (in the US) to all pre-orders, with multi-packs going out first.
The pre-order window to get a copy in the first mailing ends November 22.
Once the pre-order is over, the site will continue accepting orders, but at a higher price. If we sell out of books going back to press takes about 6 weeks.
And the book... the book:
Explores, as directly as I can, the dance we all have to do with our fears, the tension we all must embrace in order to do work that we care about.
Is in full color throughout. It feels more like a high-end magazine than a book, and I think even people who hesitate to buy and read books will be engaged by this one.
Is urgent, personal, in-your-face and as honest as I could make it.
The format is new for me and as far as I know, no author has written a book quite this way. My hope, if we are able to reach a lot of people, is that I'll be able to do other books like this, and even better, so will you and other people with ideas to share.
Some of the people featured in the book include:
Mark Frauenfelder, Timothy Leary, Grace Hopper, Miles Davis, Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Leonardo Davinci, Leonard Bernstein, Ai Wei Wei, Erich Fromm, Ambassador Mike Bruny, Akira Kurosawa, Walter Mischel, Richard Nixon, Isaac Asimov, Ella Fitzgerald, Gutenberg, Shirley Chisolm, Heisenberg, Madame Curie, The Staypuft Marshmallow Man, and David Crosby.
[About the cover: That's Annie Kenney, who died about 70 years ago. She was a mill worker in England, a member of the downtrodden working class, and an early suffragette. At a rally for women's right to vote, she asked a member of Parliament for his position on the issue. When he refused to answer, she pushed back, making such a ruckus that she went to jail for three days. Her courage amplified a movement that ended up changing the world. Millions of women could have taken their turn in that moment, but it took Annie to step up and do it.]
